Beautiful feet
Date: 05-17-22
I can’t help but gush over the car’s window when I saw the salon I used to visit as my husband was driving around Lopez Jaena St. in San Pablo, Laguna. As a career woman who is always busy, I always thought that once in a while, I deserve a treat. For me, It was a day in the salon where I had my foot spa and pedicure. I enjoy the feeling of being pampered, and the choice of colors and design for my toenails is always a pleasurable task… I even have this schedule in my mind on what design or color to be done for the next month. It excites me and makes me feel content watching my well-done feet. I remember the verse in Romans 10:14 14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” NIV
Why our feet? Because they are the body parts that we use in walking or going.
Our Responsibility
As Christians, it is one of our responsibilities to make Christ known. It is a beautiful task given by God and an honor to be accomplished. Matthew 28:18-20 says “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” We have to share God’s message to others so they too will be saved. Our families and our neighbors will not know the Good News unless someone shares it with them.
But first, what should we do? We pray for the Lord’s guidance, His will, and the people that God will impress on our hearts. By then, we act. There’s no exact format or formula to be used as each situation may be different from the other. The first time is always the hardest and guess what? We may not memorize all the verses and lines in the Bible at first but we can start by sharing how God changed and is changing us. But, in sharing the Good News, we must follow the leading of the Holy Spirit and be sensitive to His instructions.
Making Christ known cannot be done if we do not know Christ personally, or if we do not reflect His character and do the things He does. In telling others about Christ, it is important that we “practice what we preach” because eventually, we will have to explain the gospel to those whom we are sharing with. People will look up to you, observe Christ’s effect on your life, and see if what you are sharing is real.
The task is not easy as it involves all our might, strength, and wisdom. The price is very costly as well as you may lose a friend or family, and even be humiliated or rejected. Our compassion for the lost and our total dependence on God will take us through. If we have this intimate relationship with God and if we really enjoy His company, we cannot help but share it with others, too.
Now, I want to ask… Are your feet beautiful?
